National Consultation on Child Domestic Labour

07 December 2015, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) organized a day long national workshop at the CBCB centre, Dhaka to prepare an Intervention Plan (2016-2020) to Combat Child Domestic Labour in Bangladesh.
Different relevant stakeholders including government representative of MoWCA and MoSW, representatives of NGOs and INGOs, Media and leaders of labor organizations have participated the Workshop and given their valuable opinion to produce this intervention plan.
At the end, a closing session was held where the Vice Chair of BSAF Mr. Iqbal Ahmed was the Chief Guest. Other guests attended were Mr. Dilli Bahadur, Honorable Member of Parliament of Nepal and Governing Member of Global March Against Child Labour, Mr. Khairuzaman Kamal, Executive Director, Bangladesh Manabadhiker Sangbadik Forum, Ms. Deepika Mittal, Coordinator, Global March Against Child Labour; and Abdus Shahid Mahmood, Director of BSAF.
Sharing a report on the state of children 2014 and Jan-Jun 2015 09 November 2015, Dhaka Reporters Unity
09 November 2015, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum organized a roundtable meeting at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity with media to share the Report of State of Child Rights in Bangladesh- 2014 and January – June Abuse report 2015. The program was chaired by BSAF Chairperson Emranul Huq Chowdhury. Fulltime Member of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Kazi Reazul Hoque was present as chief guest. Eminent human rights activist Barrister Sara Hossain, Country Director of Terre des hommes Netherlands Mr Mahmudul Kabir and National Advocacy Coordinator of World Vision Bangladesh Mrs Sabira Sultana Nupur were present as special guest. The report was presented by Abdus Shahid Mahmood, Director, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum.
10 June 2015, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF), Terre des Hommes, Netherlands, SOS Children’s Village International and CIRDAP jointly organized a roundtable consultation at CIRDAP Auditorium titled “Child Protection Status in Bangladesh: Importance of Ratification of Optional Protocol-3’ to determine importance, evolution, potential challenges and way forwards to ratify the optional Protocol-3 in Bangladesh. Mrs. Nasima Begum (NDC), honorable Secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs attended the program as chief guest. The seminar was chaired by Mr. Emranul Huq Chowdhury, Chairperson, BSAF while Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Ishaque, National Director, SOS Children’s Village International in Bangladesh and Dr. Aminul Islam, Honorable Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs were present as special guest in the program. Mr. Iqbal Ahammad, Vice Chairperson, BSAF delivered welcome speech while the Keynote paper was presented by renowned child rights activist Mr. Gawher Nayeem Wahra. Other participants were national and International NGO representative, academicians, civil society representative, media personnel etc.

“Forcing Civil society Action Against Child Domestic labour to Combat the Gender Disadvantage”

Child domestic Lobour is widespread not only in Bangladesh, but also in India. In this backdrop, Bangladesh Shushu Adhikar Forum and Global March Against Child Labor with the support of Commonwealth Foundation implementing the project entitled “Forcing Civil society Action Against Child Domestic labour to Combat the Gender Disadvantage” from June 1 , 2015 at Reflect Research and Training Center (RRTC), Dhaka. The facilitators of this training workshop was Sreejita Basu from Global March Against Child Labor and and Annad Kumar from Bachpan Bachao Andolon (BBA). A total 35 participants from 32diffrent CSO’s from all over Bangladesh have attended this training workshop.
